Education experience and achievements

I am currently studying Software Engineering at the University of Canterbury and am in my third year. I am loving my studies and have maintained a grade point average of 8.2 (just above an A). I went to school in Glendowie, Auckland where I was an academic prefect in my final year. I endorsed with excellence in all 3 levels of NCEA and am comfortable with the NCEA curriculum.

Tutoring experience

I am an experienced tutor and have taught many students of ranging abilities and ages in NCEA subjects as well as general subjects for children of younger ages. I am passionate about teaching and I love the challenge of adjusting to various learning styles and believe it is a privilege to observe students learn and grow. I have also developed my teaching skills through volunteering as a sports coach and working as a professional ski instructor.

I coached the junior girls hockey team at my school as a volunteer for 3 years which involved running training sessions, attending games and running the subs. I also occasionally refereed the girls games and had to organise transport to and from the games as well as replacements when the team was low on players. This was a great experience for me as I had the opportunity to work with girls similar to my own age and manage the balance between authority, fun and friendship.

I have worked as a ski instructor both in New Zealand and overseas and hold my Level 2 NZSIA Ski Instructors certificate. I taught in the children's department in Niskeo, Japan for the 2016/2017 season teaching kids ranging in ages from 3-14. I would organise my class every morning and ensure the ability of the class was at the same level. I would spend the entire day, often including lunchtime, with the class which meant I had to ensure the children were having fun and learning at the same time to keep them interested. I believe this is very important for all areas of teaching as in order for a student to be engaged they should enjoy their lesson. I therefore work hard to create a supportive learning environment for my students and aim to develop a positive relationship with them.
